If you’ve ever tried to download files in a hurry and have gotten stuck because you can’t find the file you were trying to download, or it won’t download properly or it’s just too slow, then this quick and easy downloading files guide is for you. First, if you’re trying to download a file and it’s downloading too slow, be patient and take a look at what you can do to speed up the process. Yes, that’s right, you can speed up the process. Your download is not the only process happening on your computer.

If you have other files or programs open, these are taking up available RAM, and your computer performance and download times will be slower because of it. Be sure to leave your browser open for the download, but close any other programs, like Word, Excel, games, etc. that could be slowing down your computer.

If you’re on a Mac, remember that closing the window doesn’t exit the program. You need to exit the program from the program menu. If you can’t find the files you are downloading once they are finished use your computer search function and search for the file name. If you’re on windows, it may be quicker to open “My Computer” and click on the Downloads folder since this is the default folder. Downloads is also traditionally the default folder on Macs and can be located in the spotlight bar.

Otherwise, in your browser, choose Tools > Downloads, right click on the file and choose Open file location. If your file won’t download properly, try right clicking the downloadable file and selecting Save As, or download it from another source. Also, check to make sure the file is the right type for your computer. On Macs, programs should be .dmg and on PCs, they should be .exe.

If you’ve ever needed to download a program or document, gone to the web site for download, and wondered, “How do I download files on this web site?” you’re not alone. Not every web site sets up files for downloading the same way and it can become very frustrating, especially for people who are short on time and short on quick fixes to these types of problems. Fortunately, there is a quick fix for this type of problem that will help you download the file, easily locate it after download, and open it quickly, without any added stress.

First, go to the web site and locate the file link for download. If the file has a download button you can click it to initiate the download, but in order to avoid a headache, use the alternate method. The alternate method is to right click the downloadable file and select “Save As”. You will be able to select your Desktop as the download location and immediately initiate the download process without any additional steps. Once the download is complete, you will be able to see the file on your desktop, and double click to open. If the file is executable, meaning it is a program, the installation process will begin, and you will be able to follow the prompts for installation. On the other hand, if the file is a document, double clicking will open the file.

If by chance, you opted to click the Download button but can’t find the file, click Tools in your browser bar and select “Downloads”. The file will appear in the downloads list and you will be able to Right Click and Open File Location, then execute or open the file or drag it to your desktop.

No matter what situation you run into, use these tips and you’ll never need to ask yourself, “How do I download files?” ever again.

If you’re searching for the best way to download files, the answer is that the best way is the safest and easiest way. But there’s more than one safe and easy way to download files from your email and the internet.

The easiest way to download files from the internet is to click on the download button and save the file to your desktop. This allows you to easily find the file later when you are ready to open it and use it, or if it’s software, when you’re ready to install. If you installing or opening the file right away, the easiest way is to check the box in the download window to Launch the file when the download is complete.

The safest way to download files is to run them through your virus scanning software while they are downloading so that you can stop any potential threats before the file launches or lands on your desktop.

But there are other ways that are equally as good at helping you get your downloads fast and easy, such as using the Save As option to choose the download location without having to worry about the default location in your browser settings, and downloading your files to an external hard drive where you won’t have to worry about the download and zip files taking up space and memory on your computer during the download or after.

Ultimately, the best way to download files is to understand the importance of safety, the download location, and the impact downloading has on your computer performance. If you pair those three things together, you’ll be in good shape to download whatever you want and need without a worry or a care—and best of all, it will be stress-free!

Everyone loves downloading files from the internet. Movies, music, software, books, you name it. With today’s technology, you can get virtually anything you want almost instantly on your computer, your iPod, your iPad, your Android device, and hundreds of other devices, including your cell phone. But frequently, we forget the safety concerns with downloading free software and leisure goodies from people we don’t know and sources we’ve never heard of.

Keeping your devices free from viruses and other computer glitches is an important part of being a responsible downloader, and here are some things you can do to make sure that you keep your devices up and running, and your life a little more stress-free.

Make sure you have top of the line security software. Security software will scan as you are downloading files and let you know if there is a potential threat so that you can remove the threat or stop the download and get the file from somewhere safer.

Only download files from sources you know and trust. If you own a PC and run Windows software, every time you install a file, you see a message asking if you trust the source of the file. It may seem annoying, but when you see this message, you should think hard about the answer before agreeing to continue. Even downloads that have been deemed virus-free can still harm your computer with Trojans and Worms that may not have been caught by the scan.

Download files one at a time for large files. File downloads take up computer memory and make your computer run slower. If you run too many at one time you may freeze or crash your computer.

Downloading files in a safe and responsible manner will help keep your computer running in top shape, and keep you downloading for years to come.

Downloading files from the internet can be a frustrating process if you don’t know what you’re doing. But there is help. Here are some instructions on downloading files step by step, to help you download any files you need, and access them in a snap.

First, find the file you want you want to download. Whether the file is software or a document, this part of the process is the same.

Second, either click the “Download” button, or Right Click and “Save As”. If you select the download button, a box will appear telling you where the file will be downloaded to and giving you the option to launch the file when the download is complete. If this is the option you have selected, you should check the “Launch” box. If you select “Save As”, you will choose your download location, most likely your desktop, and save the file to your desktop. If you elect this option, when the download is complete you will need to go to your desktop to execute the file.

Watch the progress of your download and make sure any programs that slow down your computer’s performance are closed. These programs include Word, the Adobe Creative Suite, and other major programs. Your download will go quicker if it is the only major function running.

Run your virus scanner on the download to ensure there are no viruses in your file before the download is finished. On some computers this will happen automatically before the download finishes and the program launches. Otherwise, you may have to open your virus software.

Once your download finishes, your file will either automatically start for install or you will go to your desktop and open the file to start the install of the program or open the document.

Have you ever been working on a computer that doesn’t belong to you—at the library, school, work, a friend’s house—and needed to download a file to take with you but you couldn’t figure out how to download it to a folder other than the desktop? Although it may seem frustrating and difficult, especially with the default settings on internet browsers, but there is an easy way to download the files you need to your thumb drive or external hard drive, or even just another folder on the computer, without much extra work or any extra stress.

Right Click and Save As/Download As. If you’re trying to download a file to anywhere other than your default downloads folder or desktop, the easiest method is to skip the Download button and right click the downloadable file. You’ll be able to select to either save the linked file or download the linked file depending on your system, and then, just like when you’re saving a document you will choose where to save the file and what to call it. As long as your external memory device is plugged into the computer and recognized you will be able to select it as the download location.

If you already hit the Download button, what should you do? If you choose the download button and can’t find your file, select Tools in your browser and choose Downloads. From there, right click on the file and Open file location. You will be able to drag the file to wherever you need it to be saved, or open it, if you so choose.

Remember, downloading a file to take on the move doesn’t have to be stressful. Just use your external memory device and one of the above methods and you’ll be set.

There are many different ways to download a file from the internet or from your email, but what’s the best way to download a file? In essence, there is no one right way or better way to download a file, although there are some things you can do to make it easier and safer:

Make sure you have anti-virus software installed on your browser or on your computer. Anti-virus software will automatically scan any files you download to ensure that there are no viruses, Trojans, or Worms attached to them. These types of viruses and bugs can harm your computer, make it run slowly, and collect, store, and distribute private information you had not intended to share. Note: if your virus scanner finds a virus, be sure to quarantine the file in your software and remove the virus before installing.

In your browser tools and settings, set the download location for your files and software to your desktop or another location of your choosing. Browser settings may automatically distribute downloaded files to a Downloads or Temporary folder, but others still may distribute to the last folder you opened, making it difficult to track the files and software’s you have downloaded. Setting the standard location for downloads will eliminate the frustration of locating the files after download.

Set your browser to automatically open files after download. This way you won’t forget that you are downloading files or lose them on your computer.

Always delete the install files or zip files after you have downloaded and installed software. There’s no reason to keep the original download file once you have installed software. It takes up room on your hard drive and makes your computer run slower.

While there’s no right answer to the question “What’s the best way to download a file?” if you follow the steps above, the process will become much easier.
